I tried POF when I was sort of at the end of my rope and just about to give up. To be honest I never really expected to meet anyone but it was worth a shot. Then I met the love of my life! We are so compatable in every way and it is wonderful. The wedding is planned for July 2007 and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with my soul mate. :-)
My husband and I had slightly different reasons for joining PlentyofFish. He was too shy to even look a girl in the eye. I lived too far out of town to engage in the social settings conductive to meeting somebody. This website allowed us to search for only people that were looking for the same thing as we were. It's great to know expectations before entering into a relationship, and the individuals in person-to-person meetings fail too often at expressing their expectations before somebody gets hurt. Soon after the first e-mail contact we decided to meet. We became very serious and married only 10 months after we first met. And with that, you have the beginning of the greatest love story ever told.
We met on Plenty of fish. we had both placed a profile on the site on the same day. Both on recommendations of others not really having intention of meeting anyone. a couple of emails one phone call a dinner and life will never be the same. If the universe was ever to have two people brought together for a reason this was it.
We met on a ride with the POF motorcycle group in July/06. It took every ounce of courage I had to venture out to meet a bunch of strangers (some stranger than others ... LOL) for breakfast and then an all-day ride. I'm so glad I did! I found the love of my life that day and I couldn't be happier. He proposed on Dec 9/06 in the most romantic way ever. I can't even begin to tell you how lucky I am ... and I owe it all to POF (well, maybe a little goes to fate too). We are planning to get married in Sept/07 at the same spot where he proposed. I can't wait to be his wife. Life is Good!!
Tom contacted me the beginning of June 2005. I had been with POF for 4+ months and Tom had been with them a couple weeks when we first connected via email. In truth, I was about ready to leave POF. I had spoke to many people and gone out with a few but no one that I had really connected with. Little did I know that was all about to change. My emails responses were pretty brief and I think Tom was wondering if he was wasting his time. lol In truth I'm just not much of an emailer. I knew from the emails Tom lived in the same city as me so one night I asked him if he wanted to chat on the phone, that I was better talking live. He said yes so I called him. Best phone call of my life. We ended up chatting for 8 hours. I know, incredible...lol He wanted to meet for breakfast that morning but I bagged off until lunch as we had talked through the night and hadn't slept any. We arranged to meet for lunch at a restaurant here in town later that afternoon. I went in with no expectations and figured we would have a quick bite and go our separate ways. Just test the waters the first time out to see if there was interest enough in a second date. Was I wrong. We met for lunch and things went so well that, that simple lunch turned into an 11 hour date. Yes, you read it right....11 hours. It was the most amazing date of my life. We spent the whole day out and about in the city we are from. We had lunch, went to a movie, went for ice cream, sat in a park for hours on end chatting, headed downtown from the park and sat on a bench chatting some more before hitting a hot dog vendor for an almost midnight snack. lol Shortly thereafter as much as we didn't want to part I caught the last bus home and he walked back to his place. I called him as soon as I arrived home to let him know I was ok and we chatted for another 2 hours before both of us were completely exhausted. We had so much in comman and could talk so easily about everything and anything it was amazing. Like I said, the best date of my life. (and as it turned out Tom's as well....thankfully) We were pretty much inseperable from that first date on. We both had our own places but were really together more often then not so in September 2005 we discussed things and decided to move in together. October 1st Tom and his kitten joined me and my two cats. We became one big happy family. He proposed to me in December of 2005. Even though we had only been together 6 months I did not have a moments pause. I knew that we were meant to be together forever. We were both in our mid-30s and although we had both had long term common law relationships we hadn't taken the "marriage" plunge before but without a doubt we knew that was what we wanted with each other. A 100% committed, loving union as husband and wife. Tom wanted to get married on June 24th, 2006. It was exactly the one year anniversary of our amazing 11 hour date that we became husband and wife. Very appropriate and that date forever more will always have a special meaning to us. We are coming up on our first wedding anniversary in a few months and our time together has been incredible. The love we share grows stronger with each passing day. Thanks to POF we found one another. Even living in the same town it probably wouldn't have happened without POF making the initial introduction. We will be forever grateful to plenty of fish for that. For all of you looking for the love of your lives, don't give up hope. Be open to it, be honest when it reaches out to you and enjoy it for all it's worth. We did and we haven't had a moments regret. Thanks for sharing our story with us, Lisa & Tom
