Married June 2007
I joined Plenty of Fish in February of 2006. I have to admit, though, I was a skeptic. I had the typical mindset about online dating. Everyone has heard the horror stories about the strange people that lurk in the anonymity of cyberspace. I figured it was worth a shot though. I'm not into the bar scene. And with my hectic schedule I never really met anyone. The first month I met a few people, and went out on a few dates. Never really clicked with anyone though. Then I met Leah. Her profile, although it had no picture, intrigued me enough to make contact. We exchanged emails, then moved to instant messaging. After a couple of weeks we agreed to meet for dinner. We took our time, we had met on the 'internet' after all, but I think we both knew that we had started something special after just a few dates. Things have gone well ever since. It's been almost a year now since those first emails. There is nowhere near enough space on here to tell you how close we've become, or how happy we are. I will say though, that I am happy to say that we are now engaged to be married on June 23rd. 2007. Thank you Plenty of Fish! Without your website I would've never met this wonderful woman. Michael

Engaged September 2006
I was online chatting with my cousin in msn messenger... I mentioned to her that I was ready to start meeting new people. I was bored and lonely but I just could not bring myself to go looking in the bars and clubs. And then she told me too check out www.plentyoffish.com. I laughed to myself and thought oh good god online dating is worse then going to the bar but I went and checked it out anyway. I created a profile and thats how it started. I started chatting with a few different men but nothing that seriously caught my eye. My Aunty was over visiting one day and I told her about my online dating quest and she asked to see the guys that were sending me messages. I remember pointing out the photos of the men I was chatting with and the ones I had yet too message back. I was scrolling down when she told me to stop and click on "that one". So I did and together we read the profile, I looked at the picture and thought hmmm he is hot. So I messaged him back... For me, I stumbled upon PlentyofFish after not wanting to pull out the credit card. I was fairly new to the area and wanted to meet some new people. After a couple of months and not much happening for me, I was just about ready to give it up. But then I logged in one night in August, as I did on most nights after work, to see if anyone had responded or messaged me. Sure enough I had recieved the message she had sent and that's when it all started... We chatted a few times on PlentyofFish and then started chatting on msn messenger. He had a webcam... I didnt. But he posted it anyway and the moment I saw him I saw a very familiar sadness in his eyes it was the same sadness that stared back in the mirror at me every day. Looking at Jason I felt at ease and oddly comfortable. Every night we would meet eachother online and chat, this went on for a few weeks. Anyhow one night he asked me for my number and I gave it to him. It was a few days before he called but then on Thursday August 17th, Jason called me. We decided to go out for some food and a drink later that evening. I had butterflies... I too was a little nervous, I had met other people from online and it was never quite what I expected. As I pulled up to the house I felt the same butterflies. She was waiting for me outside and as she climbed into the car I could tell she was quite nervous too... When I got in the car I thought damn he is handsome. I started talking and talking so that I could keep the awkward moments too a minimum. We went too a lounge and had some food and drinks and everything and everyone seemed to fade around me. It was the best first date! Jason proposed too me on September 9th, 2006. It happened the way every girl pictures her engagement. I said yes. Thank you POF for bringing us together!! Yours Truely, The future Jason and Jennifer Scott

~Eric and Janet~ Eric and I had both been on the site for a little while when he found me and sent an email. I responded and we kept it friendly for a while. I was dating others from the site, and at first glance Eric didn't really catch my eye (No offence hunny, you know I love you!) We had made plans to meet and I always came up with an excuse to get out of it LOL I think this must have happened 3 times. A month went by and Eric and I didn't exchange messages, when out of the blue he sent an instant message over MSN. At this point I was ready to call it quits, I responded anyways and we made plans to meet for dinner and hockey (I didn't stand him up this time) We had a blast together on our first date! We had so much fun we decided to make a relationship out of it right then and there. Eric and I have been together just over 8 months now and we've been each other's best friend since day one. I'm so grateful he gave me another chance, I'm the luckiest girl in the world. I've found 'the one' and I owe it all to Plenty Of Fish. P.S. Eric I love you so much, your my best friend, my soulmate and I look forward to our future together <3

It is with a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation that I sit down to write this to the administrative staff at Plenty of Fish who were responsible for my discovery of the greatest friend and lover in the entire world. I would like to offer the details of my particular testimony as proof to those that may be searching. I was introduced to Plenty of Fish through my uncle who was already a registered member; He had a lot of positive things to say about the site but I was apprehensive about an online dating forum. More-or-less as a joke, my uncle registered an account using my e-mail address and some pictures that they had laying around. When I discovered that I was a registered member and people were contacting me, I decided to take a deeper look into the site. I spent some time on the forums getting tips on profiles, took a look at a lot of other profiles to see where to begin, and sat down one evening to put forth a serious attempt at my own. After several adjustments, I began receiving a response that was a better relation to what I was looking for (with my uncle's joke pictures up there, some of the responses were shocking to say the least). When I became more familiar with the site, I learned about advanced searches and found my lovely lady through searching the terms "reading" and "animals"--two of my favorite things--that lead me to a profile for a (previous) user by the name of FiestyAnimalLuvr (sounds good to me!) We utilized the POF messaging system for quite some time until we were comfortable with one another and then exchanged e-mail addresses so that we could chat on MSN. After (I'd say about) a month of chatting every day though MSN we progressed to telephone conversations and shortly after that we had our first meeting: While modest in terms of activities, the day's events will always hold a warm place inside of my heart and I find myself particularly grateful as we approach Valentine's day that any of this was allowed the opportunity to transpire here at Plenty of Fish. The first time that we met, while trying to moderate things for a possible PG audience, we were supposed to go out for some lunch and coffee and I had intended on exploring some of the sights and sounds of the city (Patricia is from Ajax and I am from Barrie originally). Well, the plans were for Patricia to come to my house in Rexdale first and then we would go out but we never made it for that coffee until it was a nightcap... To say the least, it was the best first date I've ever had Anyways, moving on... :) Since our first day together (that I believe was strengthened by meeting under such non-threatening terms, and developing a solid friendship prior to ever meeting) we have always felt as though this is what we were waiting for. We have had a stronger, passionate, open, truthful and more caring relationship than any we were previously able to encounter when utilizing normal methods to find a mate. I was openly critical of this site prior to joining but have since realized how useful something like this can be (and it's FREE). Roughly 7 1/2 months after meeting on Plenty of Fish and after about six months of regular dating, on Christmas eve of 2006, I put a ring on Patricia's finger and look forward to having children and building a healthy life and family. While I did not intend on being settled down at 22, I am very thankful that I have found the greatest companion a man could ask for. THANK YOU PLENTY OF FISH FOR HELPING ME PUT A HOOK IN THIS ONE... LOL!
