We talked online for a few weeks and then exchanged phone numbers. The first time we talked on the phone it was for several hours. We both new there was something there. About a week later he drove through a tornado just to meet me for dinner and a movie. We have been inseparable ever since. We now own our own home and have 3 four-legged kids. Our wedding is this September and we are so very excited. Thank you plentyoffish.com!

Married January 2006
This will be an odd but wonderful story. Bill and I are older. I had used another site that has a test to find "the soul mate for you" during a free 7 day trial. The first person I contacted seemed ok so we met and he turned out to be exactly what I did not want. When I read his profile, I wondered why they had put us together because his personality was not what I was looking for. So, I found PlentyofFish.com just by looking for free dating sites. I decided I would date as many men as it took to just even find a friend to run with. I don't meet with people right away because as a woman, I want to protect myself. Sometimes, I'd even do background checks. I never did put a picture on either, I wanted to see if people would just read my profile and contact me without it. On my profile I decided to be as specific as I could. I had several contacts from men and I emailed them some questions. What I found was that if they weren't very serious about finding a relationship, they would quit emailing about the 3rd or 4th time if I didn't want to meet yet. They may have also thought, what is she hiding. I saw a profile on a man in our area that had a picture of him. It was like reading my own wants and needs exactly. I couldn't believe it. He had a nice look about him. I had a terrible marriage the first time and had 2 grown sons. So who ever I ended up with, I preferred to have kids also so they would understand that life better. One of the main wants I had was to have someone who liked to garden. I'd been a single mom for almost 16yrs., and had not had a garden in 20 yrs. I simple wanted a warm home with a great garden. This man's profile was plain and simple. I first noticed he lived in my area. Then I noted his picture was taken outside. His profile told a sad story and yet a brave one. He had recently lost his wife who had an aynursym and had come into a vegetative state and at her request in a living will, he had the machines turned off. She died on Christmas Day. My mother had a long illness and she died at Christmas also. He just wanted someone to go to the movies and dinner with. He'd been married to the only girl he ever dated for 28 yrs. and he wasn't used to being alone. I thought that was simple enough. He said he had a daughter around my sons age and he also had 3 grandchildren. My sons had gone to different states to go off to college and I was lonely also; empty nest you know. He was also a running for town council (he won) and he had lived in the area all his life. I had moved 38 times; different states and even another country. Mostly, I was struck by him saying although he was sad at his loss, he wasn't a "basketcase" and he just wanted to get out and do things. What made me the happiest was he owned his own Landscaping business; he was a gardener!! Too good to be true I thought. We met after many emails. I thought he was nice and smart. I also thought it was brave of him to meet someone who's picture he had never seen. We decided to meet a week later for a movie. In between we started emailing each other and talking on the phone. We decided to email weird questions to each other. I find if you ask an offbeat question, you can learn alot about a person from the way they answer. He made me laugh like I hadn't laughed in over 20 yrs. We met about 6 times for movies and dinner. Then he invited me to his house and cooked dinner for me. A man that cooks, that's sexy. I remember when I first walked in his home and I knew then that I really liked him and the house felt like a home. But his garden took my breath away. He was such a gentleman and I couldn't tell even if he liked me because we'd only been friends. The next day I went to a beautiful big horse ranch with him which was one of his clients. We were in a greenhouse potting plants. He finally said to me, "you know, don't you". I knew exactly what he was saying, I knew we were going to be together the rest of our lives. He meant that he knew we were meant to be with each other and we would marry. I'd never had that feeling before where it's a heartfelt knowledge. Such a calm state of feeling. He still was a gentleman during the whole relationship and we even moved up our wedding because there was no reason to wait. I now have every woman's dream of a great husband. Everything just works like it always was there. I know for him, after his first wife's death he was thinking he would be alone forever. He thought he'd never get that lucky again. I always joke with him that he only had to date twice to get both his wives. I had dated so many men, you couldn't count them just to get to him. Life's funny that way. I had resigned myself to thinking I would never marry again, he thought he'd be alone forever. PlentyofFish.com gave me the opportunity to meet the man I always looked for and gave him a surprise in his life. We have a blast together, our families blended without any hard times and I'm instantly a grandma of a 8yr. old boy; a 3yr old boy and 2 yr. old girl. I never had a daughter so it's nice to have a stepdaughter who was kind enough to let her Dad get to know me and was one of my bridesmaids also. We all have a great time together finally giving me the life and mostly the happiness and contentment I've longed for. Thank you for making it a free site. At the time, I couldn't afford to pay any money to meet someone else. You gave me more than you'll ever know; someone to garden with and live my life with, and for that I will always be grateful. (I wanted to send a family picture also, but wasn't sure if I could send more than one)Brenda and Bill Youngers

Married January 2007
We met on Plenty of Fish in November of 2005. We began emailing each other and sending IM's almost daily. He lives in Cuba and myself in Canada. I went to Cuba on vacation in January 2006 and we met in person for the 1st time. We chatted almost daily until I went back to Cuba in October 2006 when he asked me to marry him. We planned our wedding for January 2007. I just returned last week from our wedding in Cuba and we couldn't be happier. He remains in Cuba until we are approved for sponsorship and he becomes a permanent resident in Canada with me. It's hard being apart, but we've done it this long and we know it won't be too long until we can be together forever. We are thankful for www.plentyoffish.com for helping us find each other. We are perfect for each other and we know how lucky we are to have found each other. Thank you Plenty of Fish!
